MOREHEAD, Ky. – After a stirring late-game comeback effort that resulted in a 3-2 loss at Murray State last Sunday, Morehead State soccer (3-7-1, 0-2 Ohio Valley Conference) travels to Richmond, Ky. for a matchup with Eastern Kentucky (7-2, 2-0 OVC) on Thursday, Sept. 29 at 4 p.m. ET.
"I think (last Sunday's match at Murray State) was another great opportunity to jump on the positive side and go forward," said
Warren Lipka, head coach of the Eagles. "That's what they've got to do."
Trailing 2-0 for most of the afternoon, Morehead State scored its first and second goals within five minutes of each other after the 81-minute mark. Freshman
Ashley Ritchie and sophomore
Samantha Damante both converted on long-range shot attempts for the Eagles, but Murray State capitalized one more time at 87:58, sealing the contest at 3-2.
"The positive fact is that we've seen a good side of our team," Lipka said. "They've had opportunities to win games."
Last season, Morehead State defeated the Colonels 4-1 at Jayne Stadium. Current sophomore and 2015 OVC Freshman of the Year
Abby Timm scored two goals for the Eagles, while fellow sophomore
Cara Maher had one of her own.
"We've just got to keep on learning, and coming back and fixing what we're not doing right," said Lipka. "We just want to keep this momentum going, and see a full 90 minutes completed."
Thursday's match will be broadcast live on the
OVC Digital Network.
