  • Previous Meeting
    • Morehead State's nine-run eighth inning resulted in a 13-12 victory over the Bobcats at Allen Field on April 19, 2022.
    • Last season's contest in Athens, Ohio was cancelled due to inclement weather.
PROBABLE STARTER - MOREHEAD STATE NOTABLE
  • Under Head Coach Mik Aoki, Morehead State has compiled a 35-20 record at Allen Field, including a 17-11 mark in 2022. Morehead State has not been swept in a home series since the COVID shortened 2020 season.
  • In four home games this season, Morehead State is averaging 11 runs per game, and has allowed just nine runs against, good for a +35 run differential.
  • Morehead State has responded well after losing streaks in the past under Aoki. After a season-long six-game slide in 2022, the Eagles won five straight games, including four games in OVC play and a non-conference mid-week game vs. Northern Kentucky.
  • Jackson Feltner & Ryley Preece both homered vs. Indiana. The two juniors are tied for the team lead in roundtrippers with six apiece. Feltner leads the team in batting average (.333) and hits (22).
  • Morehead State is tied for the OVC lead in home runs with new member Little Rock with 24 this season as a team.
  • Morehead State's pitching staff is second in the OVC in strikeouts, punching out 148 hitters through 19 games. Grant Herron leads the team in the category with 26 K.
  • Ryan Grabosch is third in the OVC in catching opposing runners stealing, throwing out five would-be base stealers this season.
  • Probable starter Joe Rotkis is the OVC's leader in wins, and holds a perfect 3-0 record in five appearances (three starts).
  • Stealing bases has been a strong suit for the 2023 Eagles. As a team, MSU is 18-21 in stolen base attempts. Colton Becker (7-7, team leader), Logan Castleman (5-5), Nick Gooden (1-1), and Jackson Feltner (1-1) have yet to be caught this year.
  • Speaking of Nick Gooden, he has found his stride as of late, with hits in six of his last eight games and two multi-hit games in that time frame. He had a multi-hit game Friday vs. Indiana, going 2-3 with a run scored.
  • Carter Owens hit his first career home run on Friday in his first collegiate at-bat.
  • Jacob Ferry had a fine series vs. the Hoosiers. On Wednesday, Ferry finished 2-2 with a walk and his first home run of the season. His pinch-hit, two-run double in the ninth inning of Friday's loss vs. Indiana tied the game and gave the Eagles a chance to take the game to extras.
