Incoming Freshman Isabella Wiley Qualifies for U.S. Women's Amateur Championship

MOREHEAD, Ky. – Incoming women's golf freshman Isabella Wiley has qualified for the 2023 U.S. Women's Amateur. 

Wiley, who hails from Shelby County, finished third and shot an even-par 72 at the Walnut Grove Country Club Thursday afternoon. 

The U.S. Women's Amateur is one of the most prestigious tournaments among women's amateur golf. The event is held in a match play format, and has featured recent winners such as Rose Zhang, the two-time defending NCAA Division I Champion. 

The 123rd event tees off August 7 at the Bel-Air Country Club in Los Angeles, Calif. 

The qualification is the latest accolade in Wiley's illustrious career, including being named the 30th District Female Athlete of the Year this past spring and receiving six KHSAA State Tournament Qualifier nods, four KHSAA First-Team honors, two Regional Player of the Year awards.
