MOREHEAD, Ky. -- Morehead State juniors
James Louis and
Cooper Krezek have been honored on the preseason All-Pioneer Football League team, it was announced on Wednesday.
Louis, a running back from Hillside, N.J., led the team and ranked in the top 10 in the league with 780 total rushing yards in 2022. He did a bulk of his damage late in the season when he compiled a pair of 100-yard efforts, including going for 195 yards and two scores on just 16 carries in a snowy game at Dayton. He also had 122 yards and a TD against Marist and had 125 yards on just eight carries early in the season against Kentucky Christian. Louis also played a key role on special teams, making three tackles.
Krezek, a defensive back from Kansas City, Mo., put up immense numbers on defense and special teams. He led the team and ranked in the top of the PFL with 100 total tackles. Krezek also blocked three kicks, had seven tackles for loss, recovered a fumble and forced a fumble and had six passes defended.
Morehead State opens its 2023 season on Thursday, Aug. 31 at home against West Virginia State.
