MOREHEAD, Ky. -- For the second straight season, Morehead State baseball's
Colton Becker has been named to the midseason watch list for the Brooks Wallace Award, which is given to the nation's top shortstop each season.
Becker, an all-around star for the Eagles, is on pace to set career-highs in many offensive categories this season. The senior from Maineville, Ohio, is currently the team leader in doubles with 15, and has an OVC-high 20 stolen bases, the second straight season he has stolen 20 bags.
Becker is batting .341, which would be a career best, and has nine home runs (tied for career-high) and 38 RBI. He has walked 22 times while only striking out 19 times this year.
Defensively, Becker holds a .947 fielding percentage, and has made fantastic plays from the shortstop position all year long.
He and the Eagles are set to take on OVC rival SEMO in a three-game set in Cape Girardeau, Mo., this weekend.
