Three Game Set vs. UT Martin On Deck For Baseball This Weekend

MOREHEAD, Ky. -- The race for the OVC Regular Season Championship is tight heading into the final three weeks of the season, and the reigning OVC Regular Season Champion Morehead State baseball team is in the mix at the top of the standings heading into a big three-game series at home this weekend as UT Martin comes to Sonny Allen Field. 

Morehead State toppled SEMO on Saturday and Sunday to take the series 2-1 over the Redhawks before the Eagles took down Bellarmine on Tuesday in Louisville 9-5 for a third straight victory. With the calendar flipping to May, the OVC Tournament is right around the corner, and MSU seems to be hitting its stride at the right time. 

Friday's opener is scheduled for a 5:00 PM ET start, with Saturday's game set for 2:00 PM and Sunday's finale at 1:00 PM. However, inclement weather could force a change in the schedule. Please check here and on socual media for updates to the schedule.

• Roman Kuntz has dominated all season long, and leads the OVC in home runs (22) and RBI (67). He is five home runs shy of tying both the Morehead State and OVC record for home runs in a season, held by Niko Hulsizer (27, 2017). 
• With five RBI on Tuesday, Colton Becker has moved into a tie for second in the OVC in RBI with 49. Becker has 20 stolen bases this season, the second straight season he's hit that mark. 
• Hunter Thomas smashed a pair of extra-base hits on Tuesday, and is currently on a seven-game hitting streak. Thomas has homered in two of the last three games he's played. 
• Nick Gooden has been a steady force in the Morehead State lineup this season, and had eight hits vs. SEMO this past weekend with a pair of home runs. He went 1-5 with a double on Tuesday at Bellarmine. 
• Morehead State boasts six of the top 10 RBI leaders in the OVC. 
• For the third straight season, four different Eagles have hit 10+ home runs (Roman Kuntz, Ryley Preece, Colton Becker, Isaias Guzman).
