Volleyball Trio Recognized on Preseason All-OVC Lists; Eagles Tabbed Third

MOREHEAD, Ky. -- Morehead State volleyball has a lot to look forward to in 2024. Under second-year head coach Kyrsten Becker-McBride, a trio of Eagles have been recognized on preseason lists for the Ohio Valley Conference, and MSU is picked to finish third in the 11-team league.

Junior outside hitter M.E. Hargan and graduate student middle blocker Irene Wogenstahl are both listed on the preseason All-OVC team, while senior libero Peighton Isley is among the Players to Watch compilation.

Last season, the Eagles finished 18-13 overall and 11-7 in the league, tying for third. Morehead State opens the season with an exhibition contest against Miami (Ohio) at home on Saturday at 2 p.m. ET.

Hargan, from Elizabethtown, Ky., was among the league's best attackers in 2023. She was named First-Team All-OVC and OVC Offensive Player of the Week twice. She ranked seventh in the OVC with 391 kills. Hargan compiled eight double-doubles and was also third on the team in aces with 28. Hargan posted six 20+ kill efforts, including a career-high 26 against Southern Indiana.

Wogenstahl, from Crestview Hills, Ky., ranked second in the OVC in total blocks (126) and solo swats (35). She also earned First-Team All-OVC. Wogenstahl finished second on the team in kills with 286 and posted a team-best hitting percentage of .318, good for fourth in the OVC.

Isley, who is from Westfield, Ind., posted the 18th 500+ dig season in program history last fall with 564, averaging 4.99 digs/set . Her 31 digs versus Northern Kentucky marked her career-high and was the first 30+ dig match by an Eagle since 2021.
