Volleyball to Host Tennessee Tech Thursday/Friday

The Morehead State volleyball team gets back to action Thursday and Friday as they host Tennessee Tech in Johnson Arena. First service is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. ET, Thursday and 4:00 p.m. ET Friday. Both matches are scheduled to be aired on ESPN+.

The Eagles return to Johnson Arena coming off a series sweep last weekend over the Lindenwood Lions in St. Charles, Mo., to run their OVC record to 5-0 to kick off the conference season. The last time the Eagles ran off five straight to begin conference play was in the Spring of 2021, when MSU ran off 14 straight wins to begin the season and captured the OVC Championship and a berth in the NCAA tournament where the Eagles knocked of Creighton in the opening round in Omaha, Nebraska.  Morehead State stands alone in second place in the OVC standings, behind Little Rock at 6-0.

  • Morehead State leads the Ohio Valley Conference in kills (13.60 kills per set) and hitting percentage (.241). The Eagles rank third in total blocks (2.05 blocks per set) and third in service aces averaging 1.69 aces per set.
  • M.E. Hargan leads the Ohio Valley Conference averaging 4.58 kills per set, which ranks 15th nationally in NCAA Division I. Hargan also leads the OVC averaging 5.21 points per set, which ranks 11th nationally. She has posted a .258 hitting percentage, which ranks seventh in the OVC.
  • Hollan Everett is second on the team with 177 kills. Her 3.15 kills per set average ranks 10th in the OVC. She has also turned away 32 total blocks, which ranks third on the team.   • Sydney Sennett was named the OVC Setter of the Week on Monday for her play last week at Lindenwood. She has dished out 522 assists this season averaging 9.49 assists per set, which ranks second in the OVC.
  • Sennet has dished out 1,442 assists in her career, which ranks eighth in the modern era in the Morehead State record books.
  • Bailey Brashear leads MSU with 45 total blocks. Her 0.84 blocks per set rate ranks eighth in the OVC.
  • Middle blocker Amelia Nott ranks third in the OVC with a .314 attack percentage. That rands fifth in the modern era.
 
SCOUTING THE GOLDEN EAGLES

Tennessee Tech comes into Morehead off a series sweep over Tennessee State last weekend in Cookeville. At 4-2 in conference play, the Golden Eagles are tied with Southeast Missouri in the OVC standings.
  • Tennessee Tech ranks second in the OVC averaging 1.79 service aces per set. Tech has slugged 118 aces versus 99 for their opponents. Bella Powell leads with 24 while teammate Tuva Falk has 23.  Powell ranks sixth in the OVC while Falk ranks eighth.
  • The Tech attack is led by Powell, who has piled up 229 kills on the season. Her 3.47 kills per set rate ranks in the OVC. She is third on the team with 28 total blocks.
  • Tech's setter Jordan Karlen was the OVC Setter and Freshman of the Year in 2022. Last season she became a two-time All-OVC First-Team selection. She has amassed 4,090 assists and 1,053 digs in her career.
