MOREHEAD, Ky. -- The tradition hopes to live on this weekend. Started by the late Myron Doan in 1988, Morehead State Cheerleading has 54 national championships. This year's edition of the MSU program will strive to add more titles to the trophy case when they compete at the Universal Cheerleading Association College Nationals in Orlando Friday through Sunday.
Head coach
Mark Coleman will field four different squads this season. Coleman has the chance to become the MSU leader with the most national titles coached. Coleman has guided the teams to 19 UCA national championships since 2014. Doan led the Eagles to 20 titles before head coaches Tony Nash and Bill Mayo each led the teams to titles too.
MSU opens the events on Friday with the Gameday squad taking the mats at the Wide World of Sports at 9:10 a.m. ET. The All-Girl team, the two-time defending champs and with 14 titles in history, is up on Saturday at 9:34 a.m. Small Co-Ed, which won a national championship in its first year competing in 2023, hits the floor at 12:34 p.m. The large Co-Ed squad, which has won 29 titles since 1988, does its routine at 2:46 p.m. Saturday.
Finals and awards are Sunday.
Results will be announced throughout the weekend on MSU's social media channels (@MSUEagles).
