MOREHEAD, Ky. --Â Familiar face
Cameron Nelson is set to take on the role of Assistant Director of Athletics for Compliance/Internal Operations.
Nelson is a two-time graduate of Morehead State University and served two years as a graduate assistant in ticketing and facilities from 2022-24.
"Morehead State is a place I consider home, and I'm grateful to have the opportunity to return to such a family atmosphere," he said. "Serving this awesome community and university is an honor I will cherish daily. Sko Eags!"
During his time as a graduate assistant, Nelson gained valuable experience with many of the internal and game day operations at MSU, handling set up and break down of replay systems for basketball, football and volleyball. He worked closely with DVSport and Echo, as well as gained a vast knowledge of ETix and SkyCoach platforms as the ticketing and facilities assistant.
Nelson also served as an undergraduate student assistant in operations from 2021-22, assisting in the operations of the KHSAAÂ 16th Region Basketball Tournaments at Johnson Arena.
Nelson has gained other practical experience, serving as head intern for operations with the Lexington Legends Baseball club for the 2021 and 2022 seasons. He managed parking, facility maintenance and staffing for security and game day ushers.
Other experience includes being a DVSport technician for the 2025 Southeastern Conference Track and Field Championships, a staff member for the 2022 PGA Barbasol Championship in Kentucky and data analyst for Pro Football Focus in 2024.
Nelson is a native of Wayland, Ky., also the hometown of famous basketball star "King" Kelly Coleman.
Nelson earned his bachelor's degree in sport management from MSU in 2022 and garnered his Master's Degree in sport management in 2024.
