RESULTS (CUI | UCLA)
MOREHEAD, Ky. -- Morehead State Beach Volleyball faced a tough challenge today to open its trip to the West coast as the Eagles fell 5-0 to Concordia University Irvine and No. 1 UCLA at the Bruins' Mapes Beach.
The Eagles slipped to 6-2 on the season. Concordia, which fell to UCLA in the opening match of the day, is now 9-6. UCLA is 15-1.
MSU's No. 1 pair of
Irene Wogenstahl and
Bella Marita were able to take their match against CIU to three sets. They won the second 21-19 but fell 21-11 and 15-11 in the first and third. All other matches went in straight sets to CUI, but
Sarah Heath and
Shea Hefner (No. 3) did take their first set to extra points before falling 22-20.
UCLA handed the Eagles five straight set defeats. At No. 2,
M.E. Hargan and
Peighton Isley came close in their first set, only falling 21-17 before losing 21-11 in the second.Â
Morehead State continues its California adventure this weekend when it plays in the Malibu Invite at Pepperdine.
