Morehead, Ky. -- Morehead State Men's Golf finished 11
th of 15 teams in the prestigious Bandon Dunes Championship Tuesday in Bandon, Ore.
Morehead State totaled rounds of 299-307-298 for a total of 904 strokes (+52), six strokes ahead of fellow Ohio Valley Conference member SIUE.
"What a special week for all of us fortunate enough to spend it here at Bandon," said MSU head coach
Matthew Martin. "The battled hare through each round. This will be the toughest test we will face for the rest of the season."
Sophomore
Remy Stalcup led Morehead State shooting rounds of 74-78-73 for a total of 221 (+12) and a t-31 position. Senior
Nolan Piazza posted rounds of 75-77-74-226 (+13), t-38.
Gavin Augenstein scored 74-75-79-228 (+15), t-38. His total was matched by junior
Logan McCormick with rounds of 76-77-75.
Seamus Bogan finished at +29, 242, shooting 82-84-76.
Junior
Logan Liles, playing as an individual, fired rounds of 81-81-13 for a 235 total (+22).
Oregon captured the team championship with an 856 total. It marks the fourth Bandon Dunes Championship title for the Ducks in the 16 playings of the annual event. Utah Valley State's Dane Huddleston won medalist honors with a three-round total of 198 (-12). That's his fourth tournament victory in the last five tournaments played.
Morehead State will return to play next Monday and Tuesday, when they travel to Greenville, S.C., for the ECU Intercollegiate, at the Brook Valley Country Club.
