RESULTS (LIN | CHATT)
MOREHEAD, Ky. -- Morehead State Beach Volleyball kept its momentum going from a perfect day Friday to defeat Lindenwood 3-2 Saturday at OVC Weekend before the Eagles closed with a 5-0 setback to Chattanooga on UT Martin's courts.
The Eagles now sit at 9-7 overall and are 3-1 in the conference.
The win over Lindenwood proved to be dramatic again as the Eagles won on courts three, four and one to claim the victory. Leading 2-1 following the No. 3 pair of
Peighton Isley and
M.E. Hargan's three-set winner (11-21, 21-17, 15-10), the No. 1 pair of
Irene Wogenstahl and
Bella Marita clinched their second straight match for their team with a three-set win. The duo outlasted Nyah Wilson and Abby VanBuskirk 22-20, 19-21, 15-12.
MSU's other win came on court four as
Brenna Bommer and
Shea Hefner toppled their Lion foes in straight sets. At No. 5,
Amelia Nott and
Courtney Fitzgerald fought back to force a third set before falling.Â
Chattanooga, the defending OVC champions, finished off a 4-0 weekend by sweeping the Eagles. At No. 4, Hefner and Bommer were able to threaten by forcing a third set but fell 15-13 after jumping to a 1-0 lead on a 23-21 triumph in the opening frame.
The Eagles will continue OVC action next weekend when they travel to face Tennessee Tech on Friday and Saturday.
