MOREHEAD, Ky. --
Unlike in its previous matchups last season with OVC rival Tennessee Tech, Morehead State Beach Volleyball left little doubt who was the superior team, at least on this Friday afternoon. The Eagles knocked off the Golden Eagles 5-0 at TTU's Beach Courts to open the two-match set in Cookeville.

MSU improved to 10-7 overall and 4-1 in the Ohio Valley Conference, handing Tech its second defeat at the hands of the MSU crew this season The previous 4-1 win, however, on opening weekend did not count for the OVC race. TTU slid to 3-9 overall and 1-4 in the league. Last season, both regular-season battles were won 3-2 in split fashion and nine of the 10 pairs went to three sets.

Four of the five MSU pairs won in straight sets today. The lone match that went the full trio of sets was won by the Eagles' No. 1 duo of Irene Wogenstahl and Bella Marita in rally fashion as they came back from a 21-12 defeat to win 21-12 and 15-12.

On court two, Sydney Wyman and Sarah Heath claimed both sets, 21-13, 21-16, while M.E. Hargan and Peighton Isley had to fight for extra points in both sets but won 23-21, 24-22. Brenna Bommer and Shea Hefner grabbed a 21-17, 21-11 victory at No. 4, and the No. 5 clash went to the Eagles' Courtney Fitzgerald and Hollan Everett 21-14, 21-16.

The exhibition match also went in favor of the visiting Eagles as Amelia Nott and Landyn Snowden denied their Tech counterparts 21-14, 21-15.
