MOREHEAD, Ky. – After a stellar showing at the Colonel Classic,
Remy Stalcup has been named OVC Co-Golfer of the Week, the league announced Thursday.
Stalcup, who claimed his first top-5 finish as an Eagle, fired rounds of 69-69-68—206 throughout the event. The junior was one of only two golfers out of the competing 76 to shoot below 70 on each of the three rounds. His efforts tied him for third in the tournament.
"Remy is very deserving of this recognition for his tournament performance," said head coach
Matthew Martin. "Shooting three consecutive rounds in the 60s is not easy to do. This shows the balance of Remy's overall game. I look for Remy to build off of this performance and continue to work his way into contention as we progress through the season. "
The Michigan native also led the team in par 4 scoring, where he averaged 3.94. He led the team in with total birdies (12) which was also tied for third out of all competing golfers.
Stalcup is currently ninth in the conference in scoring average through 6 rounds, averaging rounds of 70.5.
Stalcup and the Eagles return to the links Sept. 29-30 at the Derek Dolenc Invitational.
