Men's Basketball Wraps Up Four-Game Homestand Saturday Against Lindenwood Lions

MOREHEAD, Ky. --  Morehead State men's basketball wraps up a season-long four-game homestand Saturday when Lindenwood visits. Game time is set for 3:30 p.m. ET.

This week, the Eagle coaches will be participating in tha NABC Coaches vs. Cancer initiative. Throughout the week, coaches will showcase visible reminders of their commitment to advancing the fight against cancer by wearing sneakers on the sidelines along with Coaches vs. Cancer patches. Cancer screening is safe, effective, and should be a regular part of everyone's life. Morehead State will look to halt a three-game losing streak to Lindenwood after starting the series with four wins. MSU is 3-0 versus the Lions at Johnson Arena.

Lindenwood enters the contest at 13-9 overall and one game behind MSU in the OVC standings at 7-4.

NOTABLE
• Morehead State is 7-2 in games decided by five points or less this year and 6-1 in those scenarios in OVC games. MSU is now 11-3 in 5-point deficits in head coach Jonathan Mattox's two-year tenure.

• The Eagles own an 8-0 mark this year when its opponent scores 70 or less.

• MSU has won 40 straight games when its opponent scores 60 or less, since falling to No. 23-ranked Murray State on Feb. 12, 2022.

George Marshall, Jr., now has 979 career points in college. He's scored 553 in his three seasons at MSU. If Marshall can get to 1,000 points, it will mark the fifth straight season an Eagle reached 1,000 career college points. The last Eagle to score 1,000+ all at Morehead State was LaMontray Harris in 2018-19.

George Marshall, Jr., has scored in double figures in 11 of the last 13 games, averaging 14.0 ppg in that span. He leads the team with 15 contests scoring 10+.

Chase Dawson and Davion Cunningham have both now eclipsed 800 career collegiate points. Dawson (831) Cunningham (821) each reached or exceeded the 800 threshold vs. Western Illinois Jan. 22.

Anouar Mellouk has scored in double digits four straight games and shot 46 percent in that span.

Vince Dawson III and Josiah LeGree both hit better than 40 percent from three-point range.

• Morehead State's non-starters average 30.7 points per game, second in the OVC. In nine games this year, MSU's bench production has been 10+ points better than the opponent's bench scoring.

• This marks eight consecutive seasons Morehead State has had at least one three-game winning streak.

• The Eagles boast an 9-2 record this season when they make more free throws than the opponent.

• Morehead State's Feb. 7 game at UT Martin has been selected to air live on ESPNU. This marks the seventh straight season MSU has had at least one game on the OVC's linear TV package with ESPN and is 7-3 in those games.
