MOREHEAD, Ky. -- Following a season of multiple stellar individual and team performances, Morehead State Men's Golf is set to wrap up its fall season in Cincinnati, Oh., at the Xavier Invitational (Presented by Gateway Logistics) on Oct. 19-20.
The two-day tournament will be a 54-hole tournament, with 36 holes being played on day one, followed by the final 18 on day two.
"Maketewah will provide another great test for us to end the fall season," said Head Coach
Matthew Martin. "Our preparation has been productive and I look forward to seeing how we handle the challenges of the difficult conditions."
Morehead State is no stranger to this tournament. This will be the sixth straight year in which the Eagles have competed in the Xavier Invitational.
Last season, MSU finished sixth out of 12 competing teams in the tournament. There was some wicked wind, factoring all 12 competing teams finishing 14 or more over par.Â
The Eagles started the fall season competing in the Chaney-Denham-Landrum Shootout, finishing third (while the B team unofficially won the tournament).Â
Seamus Bogan,
Gavin Augenstein,
Clay Noble all finished tied for second, scoring two under par for the tournament.
Remy Stalcup finished even and tied for 6th.
Evan Taylor and
Sebastian Pell also finished in the top-10.Â
In the Joe Feaganes Invitational, Stalcup posted his best career finish, placing first out of 92 total players with his historic score of 68-68-67--203 (-10). Morehead State finished fifth as a team.
Stalcup's first-place finish, fueled by his consistency across all three rounds, puts him tied for second over the past 15 seasons for the lowest individual score (203) and tied for third for the lowest score in relation to par (-10). Stalcup's performance matched the final score posted by Nolan Piazza at the Joe Feaganes Invitational on Sept. 11-12, 2023, when Piazza carded a 203 (-10) identical to Stalcup's mark.
In the SIUE Dolenc Invitational, Bogan finished tied-3rd, carding a 68-68-69—205 (-8). Bogan's performance marked the sixth-best tournament performance by a Morehead State golfer over the past 15 seasons based on final score and score relative to par.
The Eagles then competed in an individuals tournament titled The Indy at Forest Hills.Â
Jace Patrick led the Eagles with a top-25 performance.
Braydon Bond, Taylor, and Noble also competed.
The most recent tournament was the Kemper Lakes Intercollegiate.Â
This time, both Stalcup and Bogan finished in the top-10, earning Morehead State another fifth place finish.Â
Bogan finished tied for sixth with a final score of 75-75-74--224, while Stalcup finished ninth, carding 80-71-74--225.
Both Stalcup and Bogan were named OVC Co-Golfer's of the Week once in the fall, and Bogan was also named September's OVC Co-Golfer of the Month.
