MOREHEAD, Ky. --
Seamus Bogan and
Remy Stalcup each finished in the top-10, helping the Morehead State Men's Golf team finish fifth in the Kemper Lakes Intercollegiate.
Seamus Bogan finished tied for sixth with a final score of 75-75-74--224, while
Remy Stalcup finished ninth, carding 80-71-74--225.
"I'm proud of the team round today, moving up a few spots," said Head Coach
Matthew Martin. "Certainly we have a lot to work on, but happy with the effort on such a difficult course. Seamus (Bogan) and Remy (Stalcup) played extremely well, and were very close to finishing higher."
The two-day tournament took place in Kildeer, Ill., at the par-72, 7,100 yard Kemper Lakes Golf Club Course.Â
Cold morning temperatures and a difficult course factored heavily, as all 12 competing teams finished 22+ or higher in the tournament.Â
Kemper Lakes Golf Club is one of the top courses in the Chicago area. It has hosted the 1989 PGA Championship, won by Payne Stewart, as well as the 1992 US Women's Amateur Championship, the 2018 KPMG Women's PGA Championship, and four PGA Grand Slam of Golf events. In addition, it has hosted numerous Champions Tour and Korn Ferry Tour tournaments.
Morehead State finished fifth (311-313-303--927) while Drake won the tournament.Â
The tournament's difficulty featured only nine golfers that finished a round even or under par, one of those golfers was Stalcup (-1) in the second round.Â
MSU led the tournament in total eagles recorded.
Gavin Augenstein recorded an eagle in the second round, carding a three on a par-5. Bogan also recorded an eagle in the second round, carding a two on a par-4. Stalcup added an eagle in the third round, carding a three on a par-5, the same hole in which Augenstein recorded an eagle the previous day, on the fourth hole.
The Eagles were the third best team in the third round, posting their best round score of the tournament (303).
Augenstein posted a final score of 78-83-77--238.
Sebastian Pell carded an 81-86-78--245, while
Mitchell Gastright finished close behind with a 78-84-85--247. Individuals
Brycen Farris (76-81-92--249) and
Clay Noble (82-82-87--251) also competed.
Bogan and Stalcup have now finished top-10 in three of the four tournaments in which they've appeared in.Â
The Eagles will be back in action in Cincinnati, Ohio on Oct. 19-20, competing in the Xavier Invitational.Â
