McCubbin Named OVC Baseball Player of the Week

Morehead, Ky. -- Morehead State's Ian McCubbin has been named the Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Week for his play in the Eagles' season-opening series last weekend.
 
McCubbin, a 6-2 junior from Bossier City, La., pounded out five hits, including two home runs in 10 at bats against UMass Lowell Friday and Saturday. In the season opener Friday, McCubbin collected two hits in four at bats, including a home run and drove in three runs.
 
In the first game of the doubleheader Saturday, he again went two of four at the plate. In the series finale, he got the offense going early with a three-run home run.
 
McCubbin produced a .500/1.100/.545 slash line for the series.
 
McCubbin and the Eagles travel to Lexington Tuesday to take on the 18^th-ranked Kentucky Wildcats at Kentucky Proud Park.
