Eagle Baseball to Open Homestand with Mid-week Tilt Against Bellarmine

Morehead, Ky. -- The Morehead State baseball team kicks off a four-game homestand Tuesday when the Eagles host Bellarmine at Allen Field in Prefontaine Park. First pitch is scheduled for 5:05 p.m. ET. The game will be aired on ESPN+; airtime is set for 5:00 p.m. ET.
 
Morehead State is coming off a 6-5 comeback win at Southeast Missouri on Sunday. Shortstop Jaden Correa drove a one-out home run over the fence in deep center field in the top of the ninth for the game winner for the Eagles. It was his second home run of the game and his third clout of the weekend. The combination of Cole Wells and Devin Costa threw six-plus shutout innings out of the bullpen allowing just two hits to seal the win.  
 
Bellarmine is coming off a series sweep at Eastern Kentucky last weekend. Sunday, the Knights hung up a six-spot in the top of the eighth inning and outlasted the Colonels 11-9. Offensively, the Knights are led by first baseman AJ Swader who is hitting .379 on the season. He leads the club with nine home runs, 16 doubles and 97 runs batted in.
 
The Knights rank in the top two in most of the major offensive statistical categories in the ASUN this season.

  • Tuesday's starter Landon Waugh is second on the MSU staff with 28 strikeouts. He is averaging 9.22 strikeouts per nine innings.
  • Reliever Devin Costa picked up his second win of the season Sunday. He got the Eagles out of a jam, getting the final out of the sixth inning and shut out the Redhawks over the final three innings allowing two hits and recording a strikeout.
