Morehead, Ky. -- The Morehead State baseball team returns home this weekend for the final home series of the 2026 campaign as they host Western Illinois in. First pitch times for Friday and Saturday are set for 6:05 p.m. ET. Sunday's series finale is scheduled for 1:05 p.m. ET. Sunday's game is scheduled to be aired on ESPN+; airtime is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. ET.

Morehead State beat Ohio 5-1 Wednesday in Athens, Ohio in its final nonconference game of the season.
Ian McCubbin and
Davis Germann led the MSU offense each with two hits a  home run apiece. Freshman starter
Sam Smith tossed six shutout innings allowing just an infield single and two walks while striking out three Bobcat batters and ran his record to 3-0 on the season.

Western Illinois ran its season record to 17-30 with a 13-3 win in eight innings at Indiana State Wednesday. The Leathernecks pounded out 14 hits led by right fielder Karyn Link, who collected three hits in four at-bats with a home run and four runs batted in. Shortstop Josh McClintock and third baseman Isaiah Monge had three hits each to fuel the attack. It was the fifth game in a row WIU finished with a double-digit hit total. Â

The series could have OVC conference tournament implications: Morehead State is tied with UT Martin for 6
th in the conference at 9-12. The Skyhawks host Little Rock this weekend. Western Illinois is a game back at 8-13, tied with Southern Indiana for 8
th place and the final seed in the OVC tournament. USI is playing at Southeast Missouri this weekend. Â

- Griffin Olson is hitting .336, the third-highest average on the team. He was also hot in April, going 26-59 at the plate (.441) with seven doubles, a triple and 13 RBI. He raised his average 81 points in the month. Â
- Olson is hitting .391 in conference play, fifth highest in the league. He is second on the team with 17 stolen bases in 21 attempts this season. That's tied for 8th-most in the OVC.
- Davis Germann has hit in the leadoff spot the last nine games. In the 10 games he's hit in the top spot in the order, he hit .395. When leading off an inning, he's hit .500 (22-44) this season.
- Germann leads MSU with 14 doubles; that's tied for 5th-most in the OVC.
- Caden Sheridan had an eight-game hitting streak snapped last weekend in Little Rock. During that streak he went 14-34 (.412) with two home runs, two doubles and 12 RBI.
- Sheridan has thrown out 20 base stealers this season, the most in the OVC.
- Shortstop Jaden Correa has 12 home runs on the season, one behind team-leading McCubbin and ranks tied for fifth in the conference.
- Correa sustained a leg injury in the Lindenwood series opener that caused him to miss the next three games. It also broke some momentum: he entered the Lindenwood series on a seven-game hit streak. In six of those games, he rapped out multiple hits. In that stretch he went 17-28 (.607) at the plate with four home runs, three doubles and 13 runs batted in and raised his average 68 points to .348.
- Freshman Kyle Krupp had his 13-game reached base streak snapped Friday at Little Rock. He's fifth on the club hitting .324. He leads Morehead State with 22 stolen bases, fourth in the OVC.
- Projected Friday starter Callum McGill had the best outing of his career last Friday at Little Rock. He took a no-hitter into the fifth inning and ended up giving up three hits in seven shutout innings. He walked three batters and struck out four.
- Devin Costa picked up his fifth win of the season last Friday at Little Rock. He got the final five outs of the game for Morehead State. He faced six batters allowing one hit and notched a strikeout. His 4.46 ERA is third on the team.
- Projected Saturday starter Landon Waugh was solid in his start last Saturday at Little Rock. He no-hit the Trojans through the first four innings; the Trojans got two runs off of him in the fifth. He threw six innings (he faced two batters in the seventh) allowing three runs (two earned) on three hits and four walks with one strikeout.
- Sunday starter Connor Davis was solid in his start at Little Rock last Sunday, he scattered four hits in his first five innings. He was touched up in the sixth and ended up allowing four runs on six hits. He struck out two.
