Morehead, Ky. -- The Morehead State volleyball team has promoted assistant coach
Jason McCown to the position of Associate Head Coach.

"Jason has played a significant role in the growth and success of our program over the last three years, and the title of Associate Head Coach is well deserved," said Morehead State head coach

McCown replaces Sarah Martin who accepted a position with the American Volleyball Coaches Association after eight years with the Eagle volleyball program.

McCown just completed his third season with Morehead State Volleyball, where he helped guide the Eagles to a 23-9 record, the regular season Ohio Valley Conference championship and a berth in the OVC Tournament championship match. In his three years with the program, the Eagles posted a 59-37 record and two ties for third place in a tie for first place in the OVC standings.

"Jason does an outstanding job training and preparing our team in practice to compete at a high level," said Becker-McBride. Â "He breaks down the game into simple concepts that make it easier for our team to learn."Â

McCown also helped coach the Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Year and Honorable Mention All-American
M.E. Hargan. Hargan finished a stellar career with 493 kills while hitting .275 in her senior season. She finished her career with 1,436 kills (third in program history in the modern era) and in the top 10 in total attacks (4,416- 2
nd), service aces (98 – 10
th, digs (98- 10
th), sets played (429- 10
th) and block solos (36- 10
th).

Along with Hargan, Junior setter
Sydney Sennett was named All-OVC 1
st Team, and fellow juniors
Hollan Everett and
Amelia Nott were All-OVC 2
nd Team selections.

Prior to arriving at Morehead State, McCown spent five seasons at Montevallo (Ala.) where he was elevated to Associate Head Coach in 2021. He helped guide the Falcons to a 93-54 overall mark and a 47-22 record in the Gulf South Conference.

"This program means a great deal to me. I love getting the opportunity to work with our players every day, and I'm incredibly thankful for the relationships we've built together," said McCown. "I'm also grateful to be surrounded by coaches, support staff, and administrators who care deeply about all our players and consistently go above and beyond to create a meaningful experience full of positive memories for them."

McCown also had coaching stints at Texas Woman's University, Olivet (Mich.) and Northern Illinois.

McCown received his bachelor's degree in physical education from NIU in 2015. He played collegiately at Illinois State, College of DuPage (Ill.) and Northern Illinois. He was a two-time NCVF Division 1-AA National Champion with DuPage in 2009 and 2010. At NIU, he was a Midwest-10 All-Conference selection in 2013 and 2013.
