MOREHEAD, Ky. – The Morehead State Eagles look to build on their shutout win over Cleveland State as they travel to Richmond, Ky., to take on the Colonels in the Bluegrass Cup on Thursday at EKU Soccer Field. Kickoff is set for 4:00 p.m. ET and will be streamed on ESPN+.
The Bluegrass Cup tradition was started in the early 2000's but has recently been revived over the past couple years. The trophy is a traveling piece, that goes home with the winner of each contest.
Morehead State Head Coach Paul Cox mentioned his hopes to build on Sunday's victory.
"Thursday is a massive game for us," said Cox. "We need to build on the win from Sunday. We're also looking forward to competing against an old rival."

Morehead State is coming off a 2-0 victory over Cleveland State, marking the first shutout over a division one opponent this season.
MSU's first goal came in the 22nd minute, when sophomore Jade Walton found the back of the net off assists from Hannah Burke and Ashton Lynam. The play was executed perfectly, beginning with a throw-in and working its way up the field before Walton slipped the ball past the Vikings' keeper and into the right side of the net.
The Eagles added another goal in the second half, this time off junior Keara Chaffee's created turnover and adjacent score. Chaffee's goal marks the first goal of her collegiate career.
Allie Lammers recorded five saves, snatching up all shots on goal from the Vikings offense.
Morehead State improved to 2-2 on the season, looking to build on it with their upcoming game against Eastern Kentucky.
Eastern Kentucky enters the match up with a 2-1 record, coming off a 5-0 win over Cleveland State and a 4-0 victory over Youngstown State. The Colonels are coached by Matt Cosinuke.

- The Eagles have scored six goals this season, with each goal coming from a different scorer.
- MSU has held its last three home opponents scoreless, a stretch that has reached 278 minutes and 21 seconds.
- Hannah Burke recorded her eighth career assist as an Eagle in the win over Cleveland State, tying her for ninth in program history.
- Keara Chaffee and Charlotte Lee both scored the first goals of their collegiate careers, Lee against Miami (Ohio) and Chaffee against Cleveland State.
- MSU has scored in each of its first four games of the season, the first time it has accomplished the feat since 2015.
- Lee recorded four points through the first three games, becoming the first Eagle to do so since Hedda Ornberg did it from October 20-November 3 in 2024.
- Olivia Lowe and Kennedy Harmon each scored the first goals of their collegiate career in MSU's 2-0 victory over Brescia (Ky.)
- MSU tallied 41 shots against Brescia (Ky.) on Aug. 16, tying the school record for most shots in a single game. The Eagles previously recorded 41 shots against rival Austin Peay in October 2002.
- The Eagles held Brescia (Ky.) without a shot in their 2-0 victory on Aug. 16, marking the first time MSU has held an opponent without a shot for an entire game since defeating North Alabama, 2-0, in the 2021 season/home opener.
- Lee is the first Eagle to have assists in back-to-back games since Kate Larbes on Oct. 8 & 15, 2023.
- Lee assisted on two of the first three goals that the Eagles scored this season, both off corner kicks. Both assists mark Lee's first two points of her career.
- The Morehead State offense is averaging 1.5 goals per game on an average of 15.5 shots per contest.
