MOREHEAD, Ky. -- Senior
 Remy Stalcup carded a career-best 68-68-67—203 (-10), sweeping the field of 92 players to claim first place at the Joe Feaganes Invitational and earn the first tournament victory of his career. Morehead State finished fifth in the tournament, jumping two spots on the final day of competition.Â
The tournament took place at Guyan Country Club in Huntington, W.Va., featuring a 6,253-yard, par-71 course. The Eagles were one of 14 competing teams, posting a final score of 284-282-277—843 (-9). MSU jumped Murray State and Youngstown State in the final round thanks to a strong team performance, recording a 277 (-7) in the third round. The Eagles' third-round score is tied for the 13th-best round in relation to par (-7) in any tournament dating back to the 2011-12 season.
Stalcup's first-place finish, fueled by his consistency across all three rounds, puts him tied for second over the past 15 seasons for the lowest individual score (203) and tied for third for the lowest score in relation to par (-10). Stalcup's performance matched the final score posted by
Nolan Piazza at the Joe Feaganes Invitational on Sept. 11-12, 2023, when Piazza carded a 203 (-10) identical to Stalcup's mark.
"My game felt good," said Stalcup. "The driver was a little sporadic, but I got away with it most of the time. The putter and short game got me across the finish line. I putted well in every round, making a lot of birdies. Finishing first is every golfer's goal, and it's a great feeling to have finally done it in college."
Stalcup is right about recording a lot of birdies. Stalcup recorded 16 birdies, 32 pars, and only 6 bogeys throughout the 54 holes. His 16 birdies were the most recorded by any individual in the tournament.Â

Matthew Martin. "He was incredibly steady from start to finish and even battled through a bad break or two along the way. This was a perfect example of his steadiness and grit. We will keep working and do our best to perform even better at Gateway (next event in Madison, Ill.)."
The Eagles were around the middle of the pack following the conclusion of round one. Stalcup led the Eagles, shooting 68 (-3) followed closely by junior
Gavin Augenstein who shot a 70 (-1).Â
Round two was a true team performance, with five of the seven Eagles, including the individuals, shooting under par. Stalcup and junior
Seamus Bogan led the Eagles, each carding a 68 (-3) with five birdies. Junior
Mitchell Gastright (playing as an individual) followed closely, posting a 69 (-2), while Augenstein and sophomore
Sebastian Pell (individual) each finished one under par with a 70.
The Eagles made their biggest jump in round three, led by Stalcup's 67 (-4), which helped MSU climb the leaderboard and finish in fifth place. Augenstein, Bogan and freshman
Clay Noble each finished one under par.
Stalcup managed his fifth career top-five finish and second career top-three finish. Augenstein (70-70-70—210) and Bogan (72-68-70—210) each finished tied for 13th, while Gastright (73-69-71—213) tied for 27th. Pell (73-70-74—217), Noble (74-76-70—220) and junior
Braydon Bond (76-78-77—231) also competed for the Eagles.
The Eagles will be back in action at the Derek Dolenc Invitational in Madison, Ill., on Sept. 28-29.Â
