MOREHEAD, Ky. -
Tiffany Hamilton, Chynna Bozeman and Ashley Martin each scored 16 points to lead the Morehead State women's basketball team to a 68-45 victory over Winston Salem State Sunday at Johnson Arena. The win pushed MSU to 3-2 on the year and gave the Eagles their third straight victory in as many days in the MSU Invitational.

In the first half, it was Hamilton who gave the Eagles a boost. She scored 13 of her 16 in the first 20 minutes, including four three-pointers. Martin came off the bench and tallied all 16 of hers via a 4-for-6 day from long range -  all in the second half. Bozeman scored 10 in the first half and finished 7-of-8 from the free throw line. The Eagles were 12-of-26 from long range and forced 20 Lady Ram turnovers.

"We played extremely well defensively today," said head coach Mike Bradbury. " We have struggled shooting the ball lately, but it helps our confidence to be able to turn that around and shoot well today."

In fact, the Eagles held the Lady Rams to 14 first half points and only 23 percent field goal shooting. For the game, MSU forced four shot clock violations and limited WSSU to 28 percent overall from the floor, including a 3-for-18 defensive stand for shots from three-point range.

Menawhile, the Eagles shot a season high 42 percent (21-of-50) from the field. Sophomore point guard Courtney Lumpkin handed out a season high eight assists, and freshman Ashar Harris, the OVC's leading rebounder, pulled down nine. Deja Watson hauled in seven boards.

Renee Rector and Porsche Harrell topped the Lady Rams with 10 points each. Harrell also had team bests of five assists and three steals.. Vontisha Woods led all players with 11 rebounds.

In the early going, MSU held a 7-6 lead at the 11:39 mark of the first half, but an 18-4 run pushed that out to 25-10 with 4:06 left. The largest lead came at the first half horn, 30-14.

MSU led by as much as 24 on two occasions in the second period, and WSSU never cut the lead below 14.

The Eagles have the week off for Thanksgiving and then travel to Farmville, Va., next weekend where MSU will face Gardner-Webb Saturday and Longwood on Sunday in the Lancer Classic Tournament.
