MOREHEAD, Ky. - Tomeka Brown, a former WNBA player and most recently the Director of Women's Basketball Operations at the University of Cincinnati, has joined the staff of Morehead State women's basketball head coach Mike Bradbury. Brown was an all-conference performer as a student-athlete at Ohio State.
"I am extremely excited about Tomeka joining our staff at this time. She brings tremendous talent and enthusiasm to our staff," said Bradbury. "Her basketball I.Q. and her communication skills will allow her to be a great asset on the floor as well as a great recruiter."
A native of Columbus, Ohio, Brown finished her four-year career at Ohio State in 2002 ranked 11th in career steals and 20th in career assists. Twice, she earned Honorable Mention All-Big Ten status and was featured on ESPN's SportsCenter's "Play of the Day" in 2001 when she drilled a game-winning shot in the first round of the WNIT tournament.
She graduated from OSU in 2003 with a bachelor's degree in African American Studies. After her career, she was selected in the fourth round of the 2002 WNBA draft by the Orlando Miracle.
Brown began her coaching career in 2003-04 at Marion Franklin High School in Ohio where she served as an assistant. She was the head girls coach at World Harvest Prep High School in 2004-06, and served as an assistant at Columbus Africentric High School in 2006-07. While serving at Africentic, she helped mentor current Eagle junior all-conference player Chynna Bozeman.
