Xavier Tops Women's Tennis Eagles, 6-1

MOREHEAD, Ky. -
The visiting Xavier Musketeers' women's tennis team won five of the six singles matches and two of the three doubles matches against the Morehead State Eagles Wednesday at the Wellness Center as XU handed MSU a 6-1 defeat.

The Eagles fell to 1-5 on the season.

In doubles, the Eagle duo of Madelienne Antero and Alexandra Rydberg knocked off Kally Alkire and Jill Ducro 8-6 at number two. The Musketeers won the doubles points as they collected an 8-3 win at number one and an 8-5 victory at number three.

In singles play, MSU got a straight set win from freshman Kayla Tuscany at number four. She defeated Alkire 6-1, 6-3. At number three. Sophomore Alix Young gave Ducro a furious batle, losing two tiebreak sets, 6-7 (4) and 6-7 (3), at number three.

Antero absorbed a 6-0, 6-0 loss to Katie Pleiman at number one, while Rydberg fell 6-4, 6-0 to Tiffanie Treece on court two. Lauren Delaney fell 6-4, 6-3 to Kaitlyn Zinn at number five, and Brooke Helms dropped her match Katie Kinnard by the same score.

MSU's next scheduled match comes on Sunday, Feb. 21 at Illinois State at 1:35 p.m. EST.
