Live Stats | Game Notes

MOREHEAD, Ky. –
It's back to the friendly confines of Allen Field for the Morehead State baseball team this weekend as they host the Mastodons of IPFW in a four-game series starting Friday afternoon.

The Eagles (8-11) are coming off a 2-13 loss at Tennessee on Wednesday night. The Vols scored 10 runs in the first two innings to grab a commanding lead, and the MSU offense managed just two runs on a season low three hits.

The Eagles continue to be led by the senior duo of Drew Lee and #J.D. Ashbrook#. Lee is batting .377 on the year with a team high seven home runs and 28 RBIs. The Mt. Sterling, Ky. native is closing in on multiple Morehead State career records, including hits, runs, and rbis. Ashbrook leads the club with a .386 average and has scored a team high 27 runs while jacking six home runs.

Jeff Arnold, Michael Bottoms, and Quentin Morgan will all take the mound for the Eagles this weekend. Bottoms holds a record of 1-1 and a 6.38 era. Morgan is coming off two straight solid outings, picking up wins over Buffalo and LeMoyne. Arnold have also pitched well of late after struggling to begin the year. The fourth MSU starter of the weekend is still up in the air.

IPFW (1-13) has struggled to begin the year, with their lone win coming against Arkansas State on March 8.

The Mastodons are led at the plate by Brett Clark who is the only IPFW regular batting over .300. Cory Miller is the top run producer, driving in six runs on the season.

IPFW will turn to Brandon Knowling, Ryan August, Nick Opitz, and Lucas Kesterson on the hill. Knowling will be making his first start of the season, but holds a team low 1.23 era in four relief spots. Opitz took the victory over Arkansas State in his only start of the year, while August and Kesterson have each started four games for the Mastodons.
