MOREHEAD, Ky. – The Morehead State women’s tennis team picked up it’s third straight win in Ohio Valley Conference play against Southeast Missouri State 7-0, Saturday afternoon at the Sadler Tennis Courts. The Eagles are now 6-10 on the season and 3-0 in conference play.
“Great effort top to bottom today, I was very happy with our doubles. We worked on several things this week in doubles and we performed very well.” said Coach
Kevin Fulton. “I like the way we are improving every match and look forward to playing EIU tomorrow.”
In doubles play the Eagles won two out of three and took an early 1-0 lead in the match.
Alexandra Rydberg and
Alix Young picked up a victory at number two 8-3 and at number three
Brooke Helms and
Kayla Tuscany won handily 8-1. SEMO was able to pick up a win at number one, MSU’s
Madeleinne Antero and
Lauren Delaney fell to SEMO’s pair of Kelly and Nattier 8-5.
In singles action MSU took all of the matches one through six. At number one Young picked up the win 6-4, 6-1 over Nikole Novikova. At number two Rydberg bested Kelley 6-4, 6-3. Tuscany won over Nattier 6-2, 6-0 at number three and Antero was triumphant over Hartley 6-1, 6-2 in the four spot. At the five spot Delaney got the victory 6-0, 6-2 and rounding it out for the Eagles was Helms who won big 6-0, 6-0.
The Eagles have won four straight matches and will be in action tomorrow at home against Eastern Illinois at the Sadler Tennis Courts, first serve will be at 11:00 a.m.
