NASHVILLE –
Morehead State’s women’s basketball team held a halftime lead Monday night at the Curb Event Center, but the host Belmont Bruins limited the Eagles to just 14 second-half points en route to a 59-45 win.

Belmont improved to 14-10 overall and 9-3 in the Ohio Valley Conference East Division, while the Eagles dipped to 8-16 overall and 4-6 in the league.

MSU junior guard Terrice Robinson led all players with 21 points, her eighth 20-point game and 20th double-figure effort. She became the 13th player in school history to record at least 400 points in a season. Sophomore forward Mackenzie Arledge totaled 12 points and a team-high seven rebounds.

The Eagles trailed 26-20 with 3:25 left in the first half following Molly Ernst’s fourth trey, but an 11-3 run pushed the Eagles to the 31-29 halftime advantage. Sophomore guard Almesha Jones drilled a three-pointer from the left corner as the horn buzzed.

The Bruins opened the second half on an 11-2 run and held the Eagles to just two field goals in the first 12 minutes, both by Robinson. She scored nine of the Eagles’ 14 second-half points. MSU managed to hit just 5-of-24 (21 percent) in the final half, while the hosts nailed 11-of-27 (41 percent).
