Women's Netters Secure First Victory

WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS, W.Va. --
The Morehead State women's tennis team registered its first victory of the 2014 season Sunday, kocking off North Carolina Central 5-2 at The Greenbriar Resort.

The MSU Eagles moved to 1-1, while the NCCU Eagles dipped to 0-2.

Morehead State vaulted to a 1-0 lead with wins at Nos. 1 and 3 doubles. The second court was halted after MSU clinched the point. On court one, sophomores Briar Preston and Sandrine Beaule topped Ekaterina Nekrasova and Rebecca Wood, 6-3. At No. 3, sophomores Lissa Pacheco-Brousseau and Dominique-Chante Mclean ousted Lynsey Cover and Tamera Jeremic, 6-3.

In singles action, MSU claimed victories in four of the six contests. Preston dismantled Aissa Muamba 6-0, 6-3 on court one. Sophomore Andrea Leblanc got past Wood 6-4, 4-6, 11-9 at No. 2. On court four, Pacheco-Brousseau won a straight-setter against Mia Ramic, 6-3 ,6-3. Beaule beat Jeremic 6-1, 6-1 at No. 5.

Mclean dropped a 3-6, 6-3, 10-6 decision to Nekrasova at No. 3, and freshman Hayley Wild absorbed a 6-4, 6-4 loss to Cover on court six.

Morehead State is back in action at Marshall on Saturday. The match is slated for 1 p.m. ET.
