Women's Tennis Blanks West Virginia State

MOREHEAD, Ky. -- The Morehead State women's tennis team shut out West Virginia State Wednesday at Sadler Courts. All seven MSU players won singles matches, and the Eagles lost just one game in doubles action.

West Viginia State, a Division II squad, fell to 4-1. Division II women's teams play their dual-match schedules in the fall.

In singles, sophomore Andrea LeBlanc topped Brittany Franco, 6-2, 6-3, on court one. At No. 2, junior transfer Ayaka Terashi beat Brooke Campbell 6-3, 6-1. On court three, junior Dominique Chante-Mclean got past Charlotte Sandy 6-2, 6-1.

Senior Alex Tachovsky cruised past Nina Dillwald 6-1, 6-0, at No. 4. Sophomore Hayley Wild bested Diana Cotoros, 6-1, 6-3, on court five. On court six, freshman Maria Orellana edged Brenda Cumpa, 6-5 (7-2), 6-2. Freshman Aleksandra Savic played as well, topping Lauren Chambers 6-0, 6-1.

MSU's top two doubles duos (Terashi/Tachovsky and LeBlanc/Wild) each won 6-0, while Mclean and Orellana prevailed 6-1.

Morehead State travels to Blacksburg this weekend for the Virginia Tech Hokie Fall Classic.
