LEXINGTON, Ky. --
The Morehead State women's tennis team dropped a 6-1 decision to No. 40 Kentucky on Saturday evening at the Hilary J. Boone Varsity Tennis Center.

Kentucky captured the opening point by winning the two doubles matches. Morehead State was only able to start five players and had to default at No.3 doubles and No. 6 singles.

"I was proud of the women tonight," Head Coach Kevin Fulton said. "We came out fearless and with a lot of energy. The scores don't really indicate how close this was. We talked a lot after our last match at Louisville, and our players did not let me down."

On court one, Caitlin McGraw and CeCe Witten defeated MSU sophomores Briar Preston and Sandrine Beaule 6-3. On the second court Nadia Ravita and Aldila Sutjiadi knocked off freshmen Andrea LeBlanc and Hayley Wild, 6-1.

Morehead State's only point came on singles court No. 2 where LeBlanc captured a 6-0, 6-2 victory over Kelsey Dieters. On court one, Preston lost to Sutjiadi 6-2, 7-5, and at No. 3 McGraw outlasted MSU sophomore Dominique-Chante Mclean 6-1, 6-2.

On the fourth court, Beaule dropped a 6-0, 6-0 decision to Kirsten Lewis, and at No. 5 Wild could not keep up with Taylor Lederman, also losing 6-0, 6-0.

Morehead State is now idle until Feb. 22 when it hosts Pikeville (Ky.) at the EAGLE Center at 6 p.m.
