MOREHEAD, Ky. --
Wins in two doubles matches set the tone, and the Morehead State women's tennis team went on to defeat SIU Edwardsville 4-1 Sunday at the EAGLE Center.

Morehead State (5-8/2-0 Ohio Valley Conference) won for the second time in as many days. The Cougars (5-7/0-2) lost for the second straight day.

In doubles, sophomore Briar Preston teamed with junior transfer Alex Tachovsky to beat Sierra Halverson and Mia Frogner, 8-1. Freshmen Andrea LeBlanc and Hayley Wild doubled up Kali Donner and Lindsey Raymond, 8-4.

"The teams' confidence is growing every day," Head Coach Kevin Fulton said. "Briar showed today why she is a candidate for OVC Player of the Year, and we are very pleased with Andrea's tenacity. Doubles was crucial today. We came out with fire and it showed."

In singles, Preston topped Lexi Aranda 6-0, 6-2, at No. 1. LeBlanc swept Frogner 6-2, 6-1 on court two, and Wild ousted Raymond 6-1, 6-1 at No. 6. SIUE's lone point came at No. 3 where Donner topped sophomore Dominque-Chante Mclean 6-2, 6-3.

The remaining doubles match and two singles contests were halted once MSU secured the victory.

The Eagles continue OVC action on Saturday at 2 p.m. ET at Southeast Missouri.
