Northern Kentucky Squeaks Past Women's Netters, 4-3

CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky. --
The teams split the singles matches, but host Northern Kentucky claimed a default win to grab the doubles point as the Norse edged the Morehead State women's tennis team, 4-3, Friday evening at the Five Seasons Tennis Club.

NKU improved to 4-3, while the Eagles dipped to 3-8.

With just five players still in the lineup, MSU defaulted at No. 6 singles and No. 3 doubles. Freshmen Andrea LeBlanc and Hayley Wild won their doubles matches, 8-2, on court two. At No. 1, sophomores Briar Preston and Sandrine Beaule were edged by Maria Voscekova and Danielle Donahue, 8-7 (4-0).

In singles action, MSU claimed victories at Nos. 1, 2, and 4. On court one, Preston moved her record to 13-4 with a 6-2, 6-1 win against Voscekova. LeBlanc topped Donahue, 6-4, 6-4 at No. 2. Sophomore Dominique-Chante Mclean picked up her second win of the spring with a 6-4, 7-5 triumph against Marta Romeo.

Wild dropped a three-setter to Sierra Nelleson (2-6, 6-1, 7-5) on court five. Beaule absorbed a straight-set setback at No. 3.

Morehead State opens Ohio Valley Conference action on Saturday, March 15 versus Eastern Illinois at home.
