Women's Tennis Falls 5-2 at EKU

RICHMOND, Ky. –
 Eastern Kentucky's women's tennis team knocked off the Morehead State Eagles 5-2 Wednesday at Coach Tom Higgins Courts.

The Colonels improved to 11-7 and 8-0 in Ohio Valley Conference action, while MSU dropped to 8-10 overall and 5-2 in league play.

Eastern Kentucky captured the doubles point after winning on courts two and three. On the second court Saioa Oscoz and Carmen Rodriguez defeated sophomores Sandrine Beaule and Dominique-Chante McLean, 8-5. At No. 3 Amandine Faouzi and Milena Poffo knocked off freshmen pair Andrea LeBlanc and Hayley Wild, 8-4. On the first court Morehead State captured the victory when sophomore Briar Preston and junior Alex Tachovsky toppled Melissa Gerritsen and Kristina Labeja, 8-2.  

Preston and Tachovsky continued to win their matches in singles action, but it was not enough as EKU captured the remaining four. Preston captured a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Labeja on court one. She is now 7-0 in the OVC in singles this spring. Tachovsky claimed a 6-3, 6-3 win over Oscoz at No. 4 for her fourth consecutive win in league play.

On the second court Faozi outlasted LeBlanc 6-0, 6-3. On court three McLean lost to Gerritsen 6-0, 6-4. At No. 5 Beaule fell to Poffo 6-1, 6-1, and on the sixth court Wild could not keep up with Rodriguez, losing 6-0, 7-5.

The Eagles continue conference play Saturday as they host Austin Peay.
