MOREHEAD, Ky. -- The Morehead State women's tennis team remained undefeated in Ohio Valley Conference action with a 4-1 triumph at Austin Peay's Indoor Center Friday.
The Eagles, who have now won seven straight league tilts since last season, improved to 6-6 overall and 4-0 in the OVC. The Lady Govs sunk to 2-14 overall and 0-6 in the conference. Doubles were not contested today.
At Nos. 1, 2 and 5, sophomores Andrea Leblanc and Hayley Wild and junior Ayaka Terashi all improved to 4-0 in the league with straight-set victories. On court one, Leblanc bested Ornella Di Salvo 6-3, 6-3. Terashi topped Hannah Tatlock 7-5, 6-2 at No. 2. On court five, Wild ousted Isabela Jovanovic 6-3, 6-2.
Senior Alex Tachovsky also claimed a straight-set decision, knocking off Brittney Covington 6-2, 6-0 at No. 4. APSU secured its lone point when Vanessa Tavares outlasted senior Dominique Chante-Mclean 6-2, 4-6, 7-6 (7-5) at No. 3.
A key first-place battle in the OVC will take place Saturday when Morehead State visits Murray State. The Racers are 5-1 in the conference. First serves are at 11 a.m. ET.
