MOREHEAD, Ky. --
Despite winning the doubles point, the Morehead State women's tennis team could not keep up with Eastern Kentucky in singles play and dropped a 5-2 contest Tuesday at Sadler Courts.

The Colonels improved to 10-7 overall and 5-1 in the Ohio Valley Conference, while MSU slid to 6-8 overall and 4-2 in the league.

Sophomores Hayley Wild and Andrea Leblanc opened up doubles play with an 8-6 win at No.1, and senior Dominique Chante-Mclean teamed with junior Ayaka Terashi to win 8-5 at No. 2.

"I thought Hayley played outstanding today," Head Coach Kevin Fulton said. "The team fought very hard, but I think we need to go back to the drawing board and get some things corrected. If we click on all six cyclinders, we can be good."

Wild garnered the Eagles' second point when she shut down Melissa Gerritsen 6-3, 6-2 on court five.

MSU remains at home for a pair of OVC matches this weekend. Southeast Missouri visits Friday at 11 a.m. ET, and UT Martin provides the opposition Saturday at 10 a.m.
