Women's Tennis Falls Short vs. EKU at OVC Tournament

MOREHEAD, Ky. --
The Morehead State women's tennis team won the doubles point, but Eastern Kentucky came back to claim the match as the Eagles fell 4-2 in the semifinals of the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament at Nashville's Centennial Sportsplex Saturday.

Morehead State concluded the 2015 season 11-10. EKU moved on to the championship match Sunday sporting a 15-7 mark. It marked the final action for seniors Dominique Chante-Mclean and Alex Tachovsky.

The Eagles grabbed the 1-0 lead with wins at Nos. 2 and 3 doubles. At No. 2, Chante-Mclean and junior Ayaka Terashi prevailed 8-5 over Melissa Gerritsen and Marcela Jimenez. On court three, Tachovsky teamed with freshman Aleksandra Savic to beat Marina Marti and Raquel Montalvo, 8-2.

MSU secured its second point when sophomore Hayley Wild topped Gerritsen 6-2, 6-3. The Colonels rallied with wins on courts two, three four and six. At No. 1, sophomore Andrea Leblanc was in a tight battle (1-6, 6-1, 5-5) with OVC Player of the Year Amandine Faouzi when the match was halted.

Leblanc concluded her second collegiate campaign with a 14-5 singles mark in dual-match action, while Wild was 14-6.
