CINCINNATI, Ohio -- Morehead State women's tennis opened the 2016 campaign with a 5-2 setback to the University of Cincinnati at the Western Tennis and Fitness Center on Friday evening.
 
The Eagles (0-1) started the night off in doubles competition, falling to the Bearcats (2-0) in each match. Freshman 
Lindsey Wild saw her first collegiate action, being paired with sophomore 
Maria Orellana, and fell 6-0 to the partnership of Katya Bure and Antonella Bramato. Junior 
Hayley Wild and freshman 
Zina Mehikic suffered a setback to Lauren Bellinger and Harley Hutchison, 6-1. The team of senior 
Ayaka Terashi and sophomore 
Aleksandra Savic was defeated 6-2 by Natalia Abdalla and Ali Miller.
 
In singles play, the fourth match of the evening went to 
Hayley Wild, as she picked up her first win of the season in straight sets (6-2, 6-1) over Abdalla. At No. 5, Savic took down Bure in a hard-nosed battle, 7-5, 7-6 (8-6).
 
Terashi went toe-to-toe with Miller on court one before falling 6-4, 6-3. Orellana, Mehikic, and 
Lindsey Wild were each defeated in straight sets.
