Women's tennis can't recover at EKU and falls 7-0

RICHMOND, Ky. - Morehead State women's tennis fell at Eastern Kentucky, 7-0, at Tom Higgins Courts on Tuesday afternoon.
 
After winning back-to-back matches for the first time this season, the Eagles have now lost back-to-back contests moving its record to 2-14 overall and 2-4 in the Ohio Valley Conference. The Colonels (11-8, 6-0) have won six straight matches, including three shutouts.
 
Morehead State struggled in the early going, losing the doubles point and starting the day down 1-0.
 
Freshman Zina Mehikic came into the day on a four-match winning streak and battled with Viktorija Demcenkova to keep the streak going, but fell in three sets. Mehikic jumped out to the early lead after winning the first set, 6-4, but stumbled in the following two sets to pick up the loss.
 
Morehead State will travel to UT Martin for a Friday matchup at 3 p.m. ET, followed by a Saturday affair against Southeast Missouri at 3 p.m. ET.
