Baseball Resumes OVC Play in Three-Game Set with Eastern Illinois

MOREHEAD, Ky. --
Following a 1-1 start to the season-long, five-game home stand, the Morehead State baseball team returns to action in OVC play this weekend, as the Panthers of Eastern Illinois come to Sonny Allen Field for a three game set. 

First pitch of the series is set for 5:00 p.m. ET on Friday, with Saturday's game set for a 2:00 start prior to Sunday's 1:00 pm finale.   • Morehead State leads the OVC in runs scored this season, crossing the plate 329 times in 44 games for an average of 7.48 runs per contest. Nationally, the Eagles rank 69th in runs scored. 
  • With 77 homers this season, Morehead State leads the OVC and is tied for 25th in the country in long balls. 
  • Sonny Allen Field has been friendly to the Eagles over the years, as Morehead State has posted a winning record at home in every season since 2013 (not counting COVID-shortened 2020 season). Morehead State is 14-3 at home overall, and holds a 4-2 record vs. OVC opponents in Morehead. 
  • Ryley Preece sits in a tie for first in the OVC in home runs, ranking in the top 30 nationally with 17 this season. 15 of those home runs have come at Sonny Allen Field. Preece is tied for the OVC lead in runs scored with 58. 
  • Jackson Feltner has been a machine behind Preece in the Morehead State lineup, with 13 home runs of his own. Feltner is the OVC leader in batting average with a .374 mark this season. He also ranks second in on-base percentage at .495, and has drawn 37 walks this season. 
  • Roman Kuntz is tied for the team lead in RBI this season, driving in 43 of Morehead State's 329 runs. Kuntz has nine home runs, and is one homer away from his second straight double digit homer season. 
  • Chase Vinson's 12 homers this season are a career high after the senior from Oakwood, Ill., had 10 last year. He ranks third on the team behind Feltner and Preece. 
  • Hamilton Anderson notched his first hit in a Morehead State uniform on Wednesday vs. Eastern Kentucky with a double. He had a single in his next at-bat. 
  • Grant Herron leads the team in strikeouts this season with 58, ranking fifth in the OVC. Herron leads the conference in backwards K at 23. 
  • John Bakke is one save shy of tying the school record for career saves, and two shy of setting a new record. He has one save this season. 
  • Luke Helton, the Friday starter for Morehead State, leads the team in innings pitched during conference play with 29.1 in five starts.
