CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. --
Battling constant heavy rain, Morehead State Beach Volleyball was unable to overcome Eastern Illinois Thursday in the Eagles' first match at the OVC Tournament, falling 3-1.

MSU went up 1-0 but then dropped back-to-back-to-back battles as EIU topped MSU. The Eagles slide into the 10 a.m. ET Friday consolation match versus Lindenwood or Chattanooga.

MSU's No. 4 pair of Brenna Bommer and Shea Hefner made quick work of their opponents for the 1-0 lead. The duo triumphed 21-15, 21-7. After falling 21-14 in the opening set, No. 5's Hollan Everett and Courtney Fitzgerald flipped the script for a 21-15 set-two win. However, they were edged 15-12 in set three as EIU tied the dual 1-1.

With pairs 1-3 then happening simultaneously, the Panthers grabbed a 2-1 lead as Sylvia Hasz and Tori Mohesky slipped past M.E. Hargan and Peighton Isley 15-21, 21-7, 17-15 on court three.

The Eagles' fate was sealed then as No. 1 pair Irene Wogenstahl and Bella Marita couldn't complete the rally and dropped a 21-17, 21-18 affair on the top court. On court two, Sydney Wyman and Sarah Heath were tied 19-19 in the first set when the match was halted.
