Morehead State is coming off a 4-0 loss against SIUE.
SIUE jumped out to the offensive attack early, scoring two goals within the first 15 minutes of the contest.
The Cougars' first goal came from just outside the penalty arc, as Tori Bockstadter found the back of the net on a great shot, thanks to an assist by Claire Nieroda.
SIUE's second goal came quickly after. This time, Bockstadter delivered a through ball to Nieroda as she screamed up the field, sneaking it past Lammers to put the Cougars up 2-0 early in the contest.
Coming out of halftime, both teams battled trying to find a competitive edge. It was the Cougars who once again found the net. This time, MaryClaire Imig took a pass from Bockstadter and Nieroda and delivered a strike that would put SIUE up 3-0.
The Eagles would apply pressure, but Molly Tapak's header went high, and Keara Chafee's spinning kick was saved by Baylor Lynch, the Cougars' keeper.
In the 78th minute, Ashton Lynam had the best chance to knock one in, but her kick was also saved by Lynch.
SIUE would tack on one final goal in the 81st minute, this time, scored by Marin Vines off an assist by Zeniyah Russell.
Last season, Morehead State faced off against SEMO with similar previous results.
Currently, the Eagles have dropped five of their last six, and heading into their contest against the Redhawks in 2025, they had lost six of their last seven.
Last year, MSU forced a 0-0 tie against SEMO to close out the regular season.
Led by Head Coach John Klein, the Redhawks sit at 2-6-4 (1-0-1), following their 1-1 tie against Southern Indiana.
SIUE is averaging 0.5 goals per game on 7.8 averaged shots. The Redhawks have struggled defensively, giving up 1.75 goals per match while allowing 15.8 shots per contest.
Morehead State is averaging 1.08 goals per game on 12.4 averaged shots, while allowing their opponents to score 1.54 goals per game on an average of 13.8 shots.
Sunday's match is a big opportunity for the Eagles to get back on track and put a win in the conference win column.
