PADUCAH, Ky. --
The Morehead State women's tennis team won for the seventh time in eight matches and advanced to the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament semifinals with a 4-1 victory Thursday over sixth-seeded Eastern Illinois.

The Eagles, who are the third seed in the event, move on to face in-state rival and second-seed Eastern Kentucky Friday at 3 p.m. ET. MSU is now 12-10 overall. The Panthers end their 2014 season at 11-6 overall.

MSU dropped the first doubles match but won on courts one and three and then claimed a trio of straight-set singles decisions before the match was halted.

In doubles, sophomore Briar Preston and junior Alex Tachovsky improved to 9-2 with an 8-2 triumph at No.1. At No. 3, freshmen Hayley Wild and Andrea LeBlanc outlasted Kelly Iden and Kamile Stadalninkaite, 8-5. That pair is now 9-1 this spring. EIU claimed an 8-0 sweep at No. 2.

In singles, Preston continued her perfect run against league opponents at No. 1. The OVC Player of the Year won her 12th straight match and improved to 24-4 overall this year with a 6-3, 6-2 knockout of Janelle Prisner. Wild claimed her fourth straight victory, sweeping Maria Mosteva 6-0, 6-0 at No. 6.

LeBlanc clinched the match as she defeated Iden 7-6 (7-2), 6-4 on court two for her fourth consecutive win.
