PADUCAH, Ky. --
Despite winning the doubles point, the Morehead State women's tennis team saw its season come to a close Friday with a 4-1 setback to Eastern Kentucky in the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament semifinals at the Larry Heflin Complex.

The Colonels, who were seeded second in the event, improved to 13-9. MSU, which was the third seed, finished the 2014 campaign 12-11 overall. That tied for the most wins in a season since 2005.

EKU grabbed an 8-2 win at No. 2 doubles, but freshmen Hayley Wild and Andrea LeBlanc collected an 8-2 victory over Amadine Faouzi and Mileno Poffo at No. 3. That duo finished 15-5 this season. Junior Alex Tachovsky and sophomore Briar Preston moved to 10-2 in doubles with an 8-6 decision against Kristina Labeja and Melissa Gerritsen at No. 1 to seal the opening point.

MSU could not withstand the Colonels in singles though, losing at Nos. 1, 2, 4 and 5.

Preston absorbed her only loss of the season against an OVC opponent when Labeja succeeded in winning 6-1, 5-7, 6-2 at No. 1. Preston finished the 2013-14 campaign 24-5 overall. Faouzi defeated LeBlanc 6-4, 6-2 on court two. Sophomore Sandrine Beaule lost 6-0, 6-0 to Poffo on court five, and Saioa Oscoz got past Tachovsky 6-0, 6-4 at No. 4.
