Women's Netters Take Down Austin Peay, 5-2

MOREHEAD, Ky. --
Led by a pair of victories from two freshmen and a close doubles-point win, the Morehead State women's tennis team claimed a 5-2 decision over Austin Peay at Sadler Courts Saturday afternoon.

The Eagles equaled their most Ohio Valley Conference wins since 2010, improving to 9-10 overall and 6-2 in the league. The Lady Govs fell to 5-11 overall and 2-5 in conference contests.

Each team won a doubles match before sophomores Dominique-Chante Mclean and Sandrine Beaule pulled out an 8-6 triumph over Jovana Karac and Isabella Jovanovic on court two to seal the first point.

Freshmen duo Hayley Wild and Andrea Leblanc secured an 8-4 win at No. 3 versus Vanessa Tavares and Hannah Tatlock.

Wild and Leblanc also claimed singles wins. LeBlanc swept Andra Cornea 6-2, 6-2 on court two, while Wild upped her OVC mark to 5-2 with a 6-1, 7-6 (7-4) victory over Jovanovic at No. 6.

Sophomore Briar Preston cruised to a 6-1, 6-1 win on court one over Ornella Di Salvo. It marked Preston's ninth consecutive singles victory as she moved to 8-0 in the league. Junior Alex Tachovsky also improved to 5-2 in the conference in singles with a 6-1, 6-3 win at No. 4 versus Karac.

Morehead State will host Murray State on Sunday at 10 a.m. ET. Entering Saturday's match at Eastern Kentucky, the Racers were 6-0 in the OVC.
