Women's Tennis Registers 7-0 Victory Against SEMO

MOREHEAD, Ky. --
The Morehead State women's tennis team put away Southeast Missouri 7-0 in an Ohio Valley Conference match Friday at the EAGLE Center indoor courts.

The Eagles, who have won 13 of their last 17 conference matches, improved to 5-2 in the league and 7-8 overall. The Redhawks dropped to 1-17 overall and 1-5 inside the conference.

The Eagles quickly grabbed a 1-0 lead with doubles victories at Nos. 1 and 3. On court three, senior Alex Tachovsky and freshman Aleksandra Savic beat Anna Mahkneva and Melissa Montenegro 8-1. Court one saw sophomores Hayley Wild and Andrea Leblanc top Maria Kostyuk and Viviana Ortiz, 8-4.

The Eagles won the first four singles matches in straight sets and Nos. 5 and 6 in one-set (first to eight points) contests. Junior Ayaka Terashi (No. 2) and senior Dominique Chante-Mclean (No. 3) each won their matchups 6-1, 6-1.

Morehead State is set to host UT Martin for an OVC battle Saturday.
