Box ScoreMOREHEAD, Ky.-- Morehead State women's tennis jumped out to an early lead against Austin Peay after doubles play, but went on to drop the match 4-2 on Saturday afternoon at the EAGLE Center indoor courts.
The Eagles' record drops to 0-12, having lost lost their first two OVC matches. The Governors snapped a six-match losing streak and move their record to 2-6 on the year.
"These girls have worked so hard and have come up just short the last two days," said Head Coach
Kevin Fulton. "We continue day by day to work on the process, and the product will come."
The day started off with momentum for the host team, winning two of three doubles matches. Senior
Ayaka Terashi and freshman
Zina Mehikic pulled out a 7-5 win against the tandem of Lidia Yanes Garcia and Helena Kuppig. That was followed by junior
Hayley Wild and sophomore

Hayley Wild collected team-leading sixth singles win of the season, defeating Kuppig in straight sets 7-6, 6-4. The remainder of the day went to the Governors, winning the four other singles matches, and one match went unfinished.
"Hayley (Wild) was exceptional today, and I was really proud of the effort that the doubles teams put together," said Fulton. "We have a big weekend next week, and I really believe that this team is starting to come together at the right time. We just need to get that mentality."
