MOREHEAD, Ky.—
Chynna Bozeman was honored prior to Morehead State’s game against Southeast Missouri for her record-setting career. The problem was, she wasn’t done setting records.

Bozeman scored 29 points and set the MSU women’s basketball record for single-season steals to pace the Eagles to a dominating 89-40 Ohio Valley Conference win over SEMO Saturday night at Johnson Arena.

The game was MSU’s final regular season home game and senior day. In addition to pre-game senior recognition, Bozeman’s jersey was retired, along with men’s basketball senior Kenneth Faried, prior to the tip-off of the men’s game.

Bozeman had five steals to set the single-season record, which now stands at 86 with three regular season games remaining. Bozeman also equaled her career high in assists with nine, leading MSU. In addition, the Eagles tied the school record for 3-pointers made in a game with 17, sinking 44.7 percent of their long range attempts.

Twelve of those 17 triples came in the second half when Morehead State used the arc to turn a 14-point halftime advantage into a 50-point lead. Midway through the second-half, the Eagles went through a stretch of six made buckets that were all 3-pointers. Bozeman, Linda Dixon, Terrice Robinson, Courtney Lumpkin and Allie Turner all swished triples.

Turner hit five threes to finished with 17 points and Ashar Harris had a 16-point, 15-rebound double-double, her 17th of the season. Dixon added 10 points. Lumpkin added eight assists and Bozeman had five steals.

Trailing by one point with 12:46 to go in the first half Bozeman drilled a 3-pointer that started a 10-2 run for MSU. The 7-6 lead SEMO held prior to the Bozeman triple was the last time the Redhawks led the game. The Eagles got the lead to 11 on a couple of occasions before a late trey by Dixon gave the home team the 14-point halftime advantage.

The Eagles shot 48.5 percent from the field, but it was a stellar MSU defensive effort that was key. Morehead State also forced 28 Redhawk turnovers, resulting in 39 points. Seventeen of those giveaways came courtesy of Eagle steals. MSU held SEMO to 27.1 percent from the field and 31.3 from 3-point range.

Not a single Southeast player finished in double digits with Erika Lane, Katie Norman and Jasmine Davis each tallying nine. Bailie Roberts and Brittany Harriel each had six rebounds to lead SEMO.
The Eagles snapped a two-game skid, and improved their overall record to 18-8 and their OVC mark to 11-4. SEMO fell to 8-16 overall and 4-10 in OVC play.

MSU will play again Saturday, Feb. 19 at arch rival Eastern Kentucky. Tip-off for that game is 4:00 p.m.
